Martin Scorcese revealed last month that the script of Devil in the White City, an adaption of the book by Erik Larson is in progress.
Devil in the White City is a great non fiction book, that in a two for one deal follows two events in Chicago in the 1890s. It follows HH Holmes, a serial killer who built an elaborate ‘murder castle’, and also the development of the Chicago World Fair. The book reads like a fiction book more than a non fiction book, which makes it definitely worth a read.
Martin Scorcese bought the rights to the movie in 2010, and Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio (how great is it to call him that now?) is part of the project – tipped to play sociopathic Holmes. Scorcese and DiCaprio have teamed up previously to make some little movies you may have heard about – Gangs of New York, Wolf of Wall Street, The Aviator, The Departed and Shutter Island. So Devil in the White City is probably going to be good.
