Best Pop Songs of 2016

Welcome to the music portion of the Kneel Before Pop Best of Series 2016.

Best Celebrity Names

Best Celebrity Books

Best Talk Show Bits

Best Light Movies

A lot of pop music was released this year, so please excuse the willy nilly choosing of songs. I’ve missed a lot of good ones I know.

Formation – Beyonce

Formation was one of the songs in the incredible Lemonade visual album that Beyonce surprise released in April following an hour long HBO special.

One Dance – Drake feat. Kyla & Wizkid

Billboard named One Dance as their song for the summer. One Dance is about the connection of two people in a club.

This is What You Came For – Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna

This song caused a bit of a stir about whether Calvin Harris’ ex Taylor Swift co-wrote the song or not. In the end it was confirmed that she did, and her credit changed from pseudonym Nils Sjöberg to Taylor Swift.

Can’t Stop the Feeling – Justin Timberlake

This song was released in conjunction with Timberlake’s involvement with the Trolls movie, which means it is 2016’s Happy by Pharrell (for Despicable Me).

Pillow Talk – Zayn

Former One Direction member Zayn Malik released solo single Pillow Talk this year. The video starring Zayn and his real life girlfriend Gigi Hadid is clearly an experiment by the director to see how many visual effects they can include in one video.
