Zsa Zsa Gabor was a actress and socialite who passed away today at age 99. She’s had many years of ill health so while it’s sad to see her go, I’m sure her loved ones are happy that she is at peace.
Zsa Zsa was a firecracker, famously slapping a police officer in 1989, and serving a small amount of jail time. Zsa Zsa, her sisters Magda and Eva, and her mother Jolie were very famous in the society pages, becoming the some of the first (but more soulful and glamorous) socialites.
Zsa Zsa truly was a fabulous woman with many funny, witty quotes, many about her nine marriages that just needed sharing. These are just a few of the best:
“How many husbands have I had? You mean apart from my own?”
“I want a man who’s kind and understanding. Is that too much to ask of a millionaire?”
“I am a marvelous housekeeper. Every time I leave a man, I keep his house.”
“There is nothing wrong with a woman encouraging a man’s advances, as long as they are in cash.”
Why can’t the socialites of the day be so quotable? No offence to Paris Hilton (the great grandchild of Zsa Zsa’s second husband Conrad Hilton), who obviously can be witty too:
“One night stands are not for me. I think it’s gross when you just give it up.”
I was wrong.
Zsa Zsa was one of a kind, she took part in a funny segment with David Letterman on his talk show, where she rode around in a car, eating junk food like In-N-Out burger.
2016 really has been a hell of year for celebrity deaths, from Prince to Gene Wilder to now Zsa Zsa Gabor.
